Credit Union funding helps brings “special” classroom projects to life in Douglas County
ROSEBURG, OR (October 20th, 2014) – Cascade Community is pleased to announce that thirty Douglas County educators from seven school districts and eighteen schools have been selected to receive almost $6,000 in Chalkboard Grants for the 2014/2015 school year.
Started in 2009, Cascade Community has awarded up to $10,000 annually since the program’s inception. The $200 miniature classroom grants are intended to provide teachers (grades K-12 at both public & private schools) with the items/materials needed for creative, hands-on classroom projects and student lead activities that fall outside of normal, daily classroom curriculum.
“We are thrilled to know that our Chalkboard Grant funding will provide unique learning opportunities that otherwise may not have been possible,” said Gretchen Koester, CEO of Cascade Community Credit Union.
A complete Chalkboard Grants program description, as well as a complete list of the 2014/2015 winners, is available at www.cascadecu.org under the “Community” drop down menu.
