Charity Golf Tournament raises $39k for children’s hospital

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (November 17, 2017) — More than $39,000 was raised for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital when Baton Rouge Telco Federal, Campus Federal, EFCU Financial, Neighbors Federal and Pelican State credit unions joined together to host the Baton Rouge Area Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament. The 14th annual tournament, held on October 23, 2017, at the Santa Maria Golf Course in Baton Rouge, LA, raised $39,763.89. This year boasted record participation with 36 teams registered.

Each year, this event is planned in the cooperative spirit of credit unions and is a testament to the industry’s philosophy of ‘people helping people.’ Daniel Fields, Director of Children’s Miracle Network Fundraising, shared his favorite part of the tournament:

“The collaboration of our Baton Rouge Area Credit Unions, especially our organizing committee, is what makes this event so special. In no other industry do you see competing organizations rallying together to support one cause like this group does for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. This was the largest attendance in the history of the tournament, and it reflects how passionate credit unions are in support of helping kids get the best healthcare close to home.”

The second floor Pediatric Surgery Waiting Area in the new freestanding hospital will be named in honor of the Baton Rouge Area Credit Unions. Over the last six years, more than $200,000 has been raised for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital through the annual golf tournament.

Gulf Coast Office Products and La Capitol Federal Credit Union were the headlining platinum sponsors of the event. Other major sponsors of the tournament included: Baton Rouge Credit Union Chapter, CUNA Mutual Group, Fiserv, Kasasa, Louisiana Credit Union League, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, CU Direct, Choice Title, Cox Communications, Enterprise Car Sales, Franklin Direct Marketing, Gallagher Benefit Services, Labarre Associates, Another Broken Egg Café, Coca-Cola, Community Coffee, Trophy House and Unique Cuisine.
