CHESTERFIELD, MO (August 29, 2019) — NewGround, a St. Louis-based innovative architecture, design, and project management firm, recently celebrated the grand openings for Chartway Federal Credit Union’s (FCU) two branches located in South Salt Lake and Tooele, Utah.
In recent efforts to align and reinforce their brand through design, the South Salt Lake and Tooele branches are the next facilities to be complete in Chartway FCU’s system-wide transformation. NewGround provided design and delivery services for both branches, accompanied with additional retail graphics for South Salt Lake.

South Salt Lake
Located in a new retail and residential development anchored by a WinCo grocery store, Chartway FCU’s South Salt Lake branch features a new 5,000 square foot retail branch with administrative space for the Utah management staff. With a much more visible presence, this is the first ground-up branch utilizing the credit union’s new prototype design.
The South Salt Lake branch features a stacked stone exterior with drive-up ITM technology and a large glass tower vestibule including Chartway FCU’s signature wave entry element. Similar to other recent Chartway FCU design projects, the interior parallels fully-branded environmental graphics, cash recycler technology, and a large format digital display.
This branch is the fourth project in the Salt Lake City market completed by NewGround.
Tooele
Chartway FCU’s Tooele branch is a 5,100 square foot renovation of a larger regional office, with the removal of drive-up lanes and installation of remote ITMs. To provide a greater street presence on North Main Street, the branch was relocated from the back of the building to the front, providing higher visibility for Chartway FCU’s new entryway and signature wave element.
Design features in Tooele’s newly-renovated branch include updated signage with digital displays, fully-branded environmental graphics, teller pods with cash recyclers, and a large format digital display.
Prior to the official grand openings, Chartway FCU’s Tooele branch held a soft opening in May that included the Chartway FCU executive staff, the mayor of Tooele, and a presentation for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
