Chartway’s We Promise Foundation raises more than $60,000 for children facing medical hardship or illness

Chartway’s Charitable Arm hosts 5th Annual Putting for Promises golf tournament & surprise wish proclamation during country fan fest 2021, presented by Chartway

LEHI, UT (August 11, 2021) — With a goal to make dreams and wishes come to life for children facing medical hardship or illness, Chartway’s charitable arm – the We Promise Foundation – recently welcomed supporters to tee up for its 5th Annual Putting for Promises golf tournament. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters, the event raised more than $60,000 for children in Utah.

The tournament took place in Lehi, Utah, at Thanksgiving Point Golf Course. Golfers, guests, and volunteers were joined by several We Promise heroes, who arrived by limousine to cheers and elbow bumps from participants. The children also had the opportunity to cruise around the course in golf carts – learning from players how to hold an iron and sink a putt.

“After a tough year for everyone across the country, bringing people safely together for our 5th Annual Putting for Promises golf tournament was incredibly meaningful,” said Karen Lane, We Promise Foundation executive director. “A full roster of golfers enjoyed teeing up and chipping in to ensure that eligible children facing medical hardship or illness in Utah can benefit from life-changing experiences that bring joy, hope, and smiles.”

The day after the golf tournament, Chartway partnered with Make-a-Wish Utah for an on-stage surprise during Country Fan Fest 2021, presented by Chartway. They held a Wish Proclamation for 10-year-old Sylvia, who recently received a kidney transplant after battling end-stage kidney disease. George Sauer, Chartway’s board chair, Brian Schools, Chartway’s president & CEO, Karen Lane, executive director of Chartway’s We Promise Foundation, and Jared Perry, the CEO of Make-a-Wish Utah, announced that her “Wish” to have a shopping spree had been funded by Chartway and would be granted by Make-A-Wish Utah.

“Sylvia’s Wish has been something that she has been looking forward to and a source of joy in her life,” shared Make-A-Wish Utah. “Whenever someone mentions her wish, her smile touches her ears and stays there.”

Chartway also supports its communities by sponsoring events and programs, serving on a wide range of industry and trade association committees, partnering with local chamber groups, leading legislative efforts to advocate for financial issues, and providing charitable grants through its We Promise Foundation, which has raised more than $12 million to provide the financial support needed to make dreams and wishes come to life for children facing medical challenges.

“At Chartway, we’re dedicating to unlocking the potential of individuals and families so they can thrive – and
a commitment to the communities we serve is such a vital part of that,” said Brian Schools, president and CEO. “Whether supporting children with medical hardship through our charitable arm, the We Promise Foundation, providing support during times of crisis, offering financial literacy education and wellness programs, or helping tomorrow’s leaders gain a strong academic foundation, we’re so proud to do it. It’s who we are.”

Chartway’s We Promise Foundation looks forward to hosting its next golf tournament – the 22nd Annual Charity Golf Classic – on September 30, 2021, at Broad Bay Country Club in Virginia Beach, VA. Click here to learn more about how to sponsor, attend, or support the fundraiser.
