SAN DIMAS, CA (November 10, 2016) — Christian Community Credit Union staff, along with family and friends, raised $1,130 for the Colon Cancer Coalition’s “Get Your Rear in Gear®” 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Team “CCCU & Reliance Community Church Run for Terri” was named in honor of Terri Pagett, a longtime Credit Union employee who passed away in June 2015 after a long battle with colon cancer. The funds will go toward colon cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment efforts in Orange County, CA.
“We ran and walked in loving memory of our dear friend and colleague, Terri,” said Marty Archer, VP of Risk Management and Payroll. “The run/walk also aims to raise awareness, educate people, and help eliminate the fear of colon cancer. We’re proud to be part of that effort.”
This is the second year in which staff members have joined the “Get Your Rear in Gear” event. “Saturday was such a perfect day to celebrate and honor our dear Terri’s life,” said Christine Liskey, Consumer Loan Quality Specialist. “Everything we can do to help fight cancer is a plus! I’m glad I was able to help a little just by being there.”
Terri’s husband, Pastor Joel Pagett of Reliance Community Church in Upland, CA, participated in the run along with his daughter Brittney and grandson Garitt. He greatly appreciates the participation of Credit Union staff in remembering his beloved wife Terri. He knows the pain and effect colon cancer has on families and friends. “We believe that someday there’s going to be a cure for this disease. By getting involved, we raise awareness,” said Pastor Joel.
