Christian Community CU bridges the gap between DR & HA
CUProdigy’s DRaaS provides unprecedented RTO
SAN DIMAS, CA (March 16, 2017) — Christian Community Credit Union has discovered that CUProdigy’s Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution is actually closer to a High Availability (HA) solution due to CUProdigy’s continuous, real-time server replication.
“With our former solution, the best we could ever achieve was about a 10-hour RTO (Recovery Time Objective),” said John Silvis, the credit union’s VP of Information Technology, “but even that was only recovering a small number of critical servers.” He further noted that the number of critical servers has increased fivefold in the past two years. Using the former solution, the RTO for all critical servers would likely extend into days, according to Silvis.
“When we ran our last DR test with CUProdigy’s DRaaS solution, we had all our critical servers back up and running in 41 minutes,” said Silvis. “When your RTO is that short, it really is more like having a High Availability solution than a DR solution.”
Silvis said he looked at a number of competing solutions, but chose CUProdigy based on both technology and organization culture.
“It all came down to a matter of trust,” said Silvis. “I have full faith that CUProdigy can provide the confidence level that I expect and that my credit union needs.”
