City & County Credit Union awards two $1,000 college scholarships
ST. PAUL, MN (May 20, 2019) — At City & County Credit Union, the mission – Empowering you to do More – is who we are and what we stand for. From the products we offer to the experience we deliver, our goal is to empower our members to conquer their biggest and smallest financial goals. To empower the pursuit of higher education, City & County Credit Union proudly awarded Holly Abel and Theresa Thomas, City & County members, with a $1,000 scholarship to help cut the cost of college tuition.
With over 200 applicants, Holly and Theresa won the scholarship with their essay’s answering the question – Who or what is inspiring you to continue your education?
“I want to be an example to my daughter that even though you may detour onto a different path; it’s never too late to accomplish something that you want. I have always wanted to finish my post high school education, and when life detoured me and it derailed those goals from being accomplished for a while.” – excerpt from Holly Abel’s Winning Essay
“I had the opportunity to volunteer at a free clinic in San Diego working with young Hispanic mothers and to work in a chemical addiction rehabilitation center for women in Minnesota. Through these experiences I have realized that the reason I am on this rigorous path to becoming a physician is to advocate for access to quality health for the most vulnerable members of our communities.”- excerpt from Theresa Thomas’s Winning Essay
