City & County Credit Union makes impact in community

ST. PAUL, MN (October 15, 2015) — On Monday, October 12, City & County Credit Union was one of 14 Minnesota credit unions to participate in a statewide event to spread kindness in communities.

During City & County Credit Union’s Impact Day, 39 employee volunteers packed meals at Feed My Starving Children, made blankets for Lifetrack and canvased neighborhoods for Bridging.

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding hungry children around the world. While volunteering, adults and children hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children which are then sent to nearly 70 countries around the world. On Impact Day, CCCU fed 210 children for one year, packed 76,464 meals and donated $500.

Lifetrack is a nonprofit human services organization that provides resources such as therapy, employment services and therapeutic preschool to struggling families in the Twin Cities. CCCU volunteers made 52 tie blankets for local families in need and donated $500.

Bridging, a Twin Cities based organization, is the largest furniture bank in the United States. Through the use of donated items, Bridging provides furniture and household goods to those transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. To help raise awareness for the organization, CCCU volunteers distributed door hangers in the Shoreview and St. Paul community and donated $500.

“Staying true to the ‘People Helping People’ philosophy is something we strive to accomplish every day. Impact Day was one of the many ways we stay true to this principle,” said Patrick Pierce, CEO/President. “Plus, seeing our staff actively and enthusiastically serving the communities makes me proud, and we are very eager to continue this tradition with our fellow Minnesota credit unions.”
