College-bound seniors encouraged to apply for $2,000 Hughes Scholarships

TUCSON, AZ (January 22, 2019) — Hughes Federal Credit Union is now accepting applications for $10,000 in scholarship funds, to be awarded as $2,000 scholarships to five local high school students. Winners will be announced on April 27, 2019, at the credit union’s 67th Annual Meeting, kicking off the fourteenth year of the Hughes Scholarship program.

“We’re continuing our video submission option and look forward to seeing where students take their creativity this year,” said Hughes Federal Credit Union’s Marketing Manager, Kerry Graham. “Whether you’re a great writer or the next Spielberg, this scholarship will afford students the opportunity to share their perspective on personal finances and perhaps help us shape how we look at banking in the future.”

Applicants must be high school seniors entering college, university or trade school in fall 2019, and must be a member of Hughes. To enter, submit the online scholarship form, along with either a written essay or a 60-second video that answers the prompt, “Describe how technology is re-shaping your generation’s personal finances” by March 10, 2019. Application forms and details are available at HughesFCU.org/Scholarship.
