Congressional Federal Credit Union announces death of President/Chief Executive Officer Cory Montez Hairston

OAKTON, VA (August 18, 2023) — Congressional Federal, the credit union serving the House of Representatives and Capitol Hill for the past 70 years, announces that Mr. Cory Montez Hairston, the company’s President/CEO, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday August 16th. The entire Congressional Federal family mourns this loss. On behalf of our Board of Directors, management team and employees, we extend our deepest sympathies to Montez’s family. Mr. Hairston was a remarkable figure who brought dedication and passion to the organization.

The Board of Directors issued the following statement: “We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Montez Hairston. Montez was a steadfast leader and a tireless advocate for transparency. The company’s directors and employees, as well as the many members whose lives he touched, mourn his loss.” Montez has been a member of the CFCU family since June 27, 2005 and will be greatly missed. Montez is survived by his wife, Tamaisha; three daughters, HaDiya (and husband Turvell Wilson), Halle, and HaKneil; and the joy of his heart, his granddaughter Averie.
