Connex Credit Union collecting items for family in need through Dec. 12

Basic household necessities and toiletries requested to support a single mother of two

NORTH HAVEN, CT (November 15, 2019) — This holiday season, Connex Credit Union is collecting items for a local family from New Reach—a non-profit organization helping build hopeful futures for those experiencing homelessness and poverty in Connecticut. As part of its ConnexCares philanthropic program, Connex has “adopted” a single mother who, along with her two young children, was safely removed from an unsafe domestic situation by New Reach. To help them re-establish themselves in their new home, and have a happier holiday season, the credit union will be collecting donations of basic household items and toys through Dec. 12.

Collection bins will be stationed at all eight Connex branches and you do not need to be a member of the credit union to participate. A full list of Connex locations is available at connexcu.org.

In addition to monetary donations, the following new items are requested:

Kitchen and Bathroom Supplies

  • Dinnerware
  • Cookware
  • Body Wash/Soap
  • Toothpaste
  • Towels/Washcloths

Bedroom Supplies

  • Pillows
  • Comforter Sets (Twin and Queen Size)
  • Extra Sheets and Pillowcases
  • Socks

Toys

“At Connex, we feel it’s tremendously important for our employees and members to pause and remember that while the holiday season may be a joyous time of year for them, it can often be a great source of stress and difficulty for struggling families,” said Carl J. Casper, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Connex Credit Union. “This is why our annual holiday drive is such an important component of our overall commitment to regularly supporting our surrounding communities. Each year, we are astounded by, and so thankful for, the support we receive and look forward to another prosperous year of making the holidays a bit merrier for a family in need.”
