Connex Credit Union Donates to Connecticut Food Bank

Connex Helps Raise $500 by encouraging members to go green with paperless e-statements

North Haven, Conn. (February 14, 2012) – In the spirit of giving for the holidays, Connex Credit Union recently raised $248 from its campaign to sign up members to paperless e-statements. As a part of the campaign, Connex donated $1 to Connecticut Food Bank for each person who signed up. In addition to the funds already raised, Connex kicked in an extra $242 to make it an even $500 donation.

For every dollar donated, Connecticut Food Bank can provide nearly three meals for someone in need. Through this campaign, Connex was able to help provide more than 1,500 meals.

“The holidays always represent a time to give back something to the local community,” said Amy Stanton, assistant vice president of marketing, Connex Credit Union. “We wanted to encourage people to not only do something good for the environment by going paperless, but we also wanted to tie in support for Connecticut Food Bank who provides an invaluable service to the area.”

Stanton also noted that the campaign fundraiser increased e-statements by 101%. “I’d also like to thank our members for driving this; they’re really the ones who helped make this a success.”

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of Connex Credit Union and its customers during the paperless e-statement campaign,” said Nancy L. Carrington, President & CEO, Connecticut Food Bank.  “These funds will make a difference to the men, women and children who continue to struggle with hunger in this challenging economy.”

Founded in 1982, Connecticut Food Bank works to alleviate hunger and promote public awareness about the problem of hunger. It is the largest centralized source of donated, emergency food in Connecticut.
