Rose Bartolomucci brings 30 years of experience to the bureau.
(October 20, 2014) -- Richard Cordray, Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, has appointed Rose Bartolomucci, President and CEO of Towpath Credit Union, as the new Chairperson of the Credit Union Advisory Council. Ms. Bartolomucci, former Vice-Chairperson of the council, succeeds Carla Decker.
The CFPB was started in 2011 under President Obama to protect consumers by carrying out federal consumer financial laws. Its coverage includes banks, credit unions, payday lenders, mortgage-servicing operations, foreclosure relief services, debt collectors and other financial companies operating in the United States. A strong advocate for the credit union industry, Ms. Bartolomucci has been on the Council from its inception.
“It’s an honor to serve on this federal agency as an active Credit Union Advisory Council member and now as Chairman,” said Bartolomucci. “Our credit union voices are being heard on the national level. The fifteen credit union individuals that serve alongside me are top advocates for our movement and we are making a difference on the federal level. The bureau staff, including Director Cordray, appreciates our points of view and listens to our ideas, comments and challenges. We also realize that we have a similar mission and that is to help better the lives of all consumers.”
Rose has served as the President/CEO of Towpath Credit Union located in Akron, Ohio since 2011. Previously she was the CEO of Kent Credit Union for 22 years, TeleCommunity Credit Union and was appointed by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland’s administration as deputy superintendent for credit unions for the State of Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Financial Institutions from 2007-2009. Towpath, a $115 million credit union, was founded in 1936 and serves all of Summit County Ohio.
