Consumers Credit Union announces 2016 Consumers Scholars Award winners
KALAMAZOO, MI (June 8, 2016) — Consumers Credit Union is pleased to announce the winners of our annual Consumers Scholars Program. “Consumers Scholars is a great way for Consumers employees to give back to student members who want to further their educations,” says Andrea Goodin, Consumers Scholars Chair. The program, which is funded primarily by Consumers employee’s donating their personal funds towards the scholarships as well as a percentage that comes from coin machines, located in select Consumers offices.
This year Consumers awarded 20 graduating high school seniors $500 dollars and an iPad. Each scholar is evaluated with equal emphasis on their academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and an essay. This year the topic was, “If you could create a viral #Hashtag, what would it be?” Consumers will showcase the #hashtags from each winner throughout the year with #ConsumersScholar in tweets and instagrams.
Consumers Scholars were honored in a reception held at the credit union’s Stadium Drive corporate office in Kalamazoo. The 2016 Consumers Scholars recipients represent 12 different districts in the area. Please join us in congratulating this year’s scholars:
