Consumers Credit Union breaks ground in newest market
KALAMAZOO, MI (June 4, 2021) — Consumers Credit Union is pleased to announce that construction is underway on a location in Muskegon. This will be Consumers’ first office in the city and continues the expansion of their Lakeshore market, which currently includes two offices in Holland and one in South Haven and an office in Grand Haven to open mid-summer. This will be Consumers’ 24th office in West Michigan and will serve the 1,000+ existing members in the Muskegon area.
The one-story, 2,154-sq.-ft. office is located at 1818 E. Sherman Boulevard and is expected to open in early 2022. Partners on the project include contractor GDK Construction and building designers Bosch Architecture.

The office will open with Consumers’ TellerPlus+ technology in the lobby and drive-thru lanes. The location also features a free coffee bar, wireless banking stations with Wi-Fi and loan and member service areas.
The new office will support the organization’s growth in the Lakeshore and Grand Rapids metropolitan area. It will offer a full-range of Consumers’ services, including new accounts, loans, credit cards, mortgages, investment services, business services and more. The office will employ between four and five full-time staff members, including a Muskegon-based mortgage loan officer and business development manager.
“Having a footprint in Muskegon is part of our strategy to move up the Lakeshore and expand choices for Holland and Spring Lake members,” says Kit Snyder, president and CEO. “We anticipate an increase in demand for consumer loans and mortgages, in particular, and are committed to providing the financing options that meet the needs of our community, including businesses.”

The credit union has averaged 18% annual growth for the past 35 years and looks forward to continuing this trajectory by expanding its services into another new market in Lansing in the coming year.
