KALAMAZOO, MI (November 21, 2013) -- Consumers Credit Union is pleased to be selected as a National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For winner for 2013 by the National Association for Business Resources.
National award winners are chosen from the winners of local competitions held earlier in the year. This past May, Consumers was named to the list of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For and presented the additional honor of being named an 11 Elite Company for Work-Life Balance.
Shawn Premer, Vice President of Human Resources, shares, “Consumers Credit Union values each and every one of our employees as family, which is why our strategic goals are centered around TEAM. This focus on team camaraderie and support, as well as our commitment to providing an environment that allows staff to balance work and home life, leads to engaged and committed employees who deliver top-notch member service.”
In 2013, the credit union’s efforts to create a balanced workplace are paying off with record employee and member satisfaction rates. A recent staff survey revealed employee engagement at 4.29 out of 5, and the 2013 member survey reported an overall satisfaction rate of 98.1%. Of members surveyed, a record 85.5% said they were very satisfied with the credit union’s services. This year, Consumers was also named one of Michigan’s Best and Brightest in Wellness and Michigan’s Healthiest Employer in the 100-499 employee category.
“Nationally recognized award recipients keep innovative human resource initiatives at the forefront of their company culture and make it a priority to consider their workforce as an essential aspect in their company success,” says Jennifer Kluge, President of the National Association for Business Resources, which presents the 101 Best and Brightest program. “Our list of nationally recognized companies has grown significantly this year. We are proud to recognize and honor these winning companies.”
To determine this year’s honorees, an independent research firm evaluated companies on key measures in various categories, such as Employee Enrichment, Engagement, and Retention; Communication and Shared Vision; Work-Life Balance; and Community Initiatives.
