Cornerstone’s Jon Gorman earns Certified Association Executive credential

PLANO, TX (February 5, 2018) — ASAE has announced that Jon Gorman, senior vice president of Communications and Outreach for Cornerstone Credit Union League, has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry.

“I’ve been very fortunate to spend the majority of my career working for trade associations that are designed to support and serve others,” said Gorman. “It’s especially gratifying to earn this accreditation while serving the needs of credit unions, which put the members they serve and the communities they support at the top of their decision trees. I believe in the power of trade associations and what they can do to mobilize, lift up, and grow the industries or individuals they serve, and I’m grateful in the support I’ve received from my peers and colleagues toward earning this certification.”

“We’re delighted that Jon has received his CAE designation,” said Caroline Willard, Cornerstone president and CEO. “We now have three CAEs on our leadership team, and considering the high bar of training and testing required to earn the CAE, his accomplishment reflects our ongoing commitment to providing industry expertise and service to our members.”

To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, an applicant must have a minimum of three years’ experience with nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics.

To maintain the certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management. More than 4,200 association professionals currently hold the CAE credential. The CAE Program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
