Coventry Credit Union Names David Root, CPA as Chief Executive Officer

October 18, 2011 – David Root, owner of Root and Associates, CPA, has been named Chief Executive Officer of Coventry Credit Union. Root, Coventry Credit Union’s independent auditor for the past 20 years, replaces retired CEO Richard Gingell.

“On behalf of our Board of Directors and the entire staff, we congratulate Richard on his retirement and wish him well in the next phase of his life,” said Roger Laliberte, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “It is our pleasure to officially appoint David Root to his new position. More than 30 years experience in the banking industry, combined with a longstanding relationship with our staff makes David the perfect fit to lead Coventry Credit Union. We look forward to an exciting future together.”

Root, a licensed certified public accountant in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, graduated with a B.A. in American History and a M.S. in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island. He has more than nine years of auditing experience with “Big Four” accounting firms, working with both Price Waterhouse Coopers and Ernst & Young. Since 1991, he has been the owner of Root & Associates, CPA, devoting 100 percent of his time to the credit union industry.

Root is a resident of Dighton, MA, where he lives with his wife and two young daughters.
