TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – October 27, 2011 – Credit Union 24, the country’s largest credit union-owned ATM and point-of-sale (POS) network, is hosting the “It’s Your Network Credit Union Conference” for credit union leaders in honor of its 30th anniversary.  CNBC’s Andy Friedman, a nationally renowned expert on the economy and politics, will keynote the conference and discuss the changing economic climate, economic trends, and their impact on credit unions now and in the future.  Additional guest speakers will discuss reaching “Gen Y” with messaging that enhances response from this enigmatic audience, mobile technology and financial services, taking members from satisfaction to credit union advocacy, and other motivational topics.  The conference will be hosted April 19-23, 2012 aboard Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas, which departs from Tampa, Fla. and makes a round-trip with a port-of-call in Cozumel, Mexico.

“In our 30 years of service to credit unions, Credit Union 24 has focused on being an advocate for credit unions in the EFT arena and bringing unrivaled financial access to credit union members around the country,” said Jim Park, president and CEO of Credit Union 24.  “Hosting this conference allows us to reflect on what has been accomplished in POS and ATM access during the past three decades, and discuss the direction that the credit union and EFT industries are heading.  This once-in-a-blue-moon event offers credit union leaders many opportunities to network and learn from world-renowned speakers addressing many issues that our industry is facing, without having to pay exorbitant registration or accommodation fees that are typical of most conferences.  We designed this to be as economical as possible for our colleagues to attend.  We also have a few surprises planned, so we are very excited to set sail with our fellow credit union leaders in April.”

Friedman, Wall Street’s Tax Expert and one of the nation’s most sought-after speakers on all things political according to CNBC, will specifically be discussing the changing tax codes and laws, and their implications on credit unions.  As the conference keynote, Friedman will explore how policy debate, the budget deficit, and the super committee process affect credit unions so leaders can glean insight for strategic planning.  Andy regularly appears on CNBC’s Squawk Box to share his expertise on the economy and political affairs, and is known for predicting the outcomes of Washington tax and fiscal deliberations.  Andy is revered for providing investors with strategies to consider in light of the changing political landscape.

“Credit union leaders will walk away with economic expertise and predictions about what is likely to happen politically, legislatively and economically that they can apply to their bottom line,” said Park.  “Each guest speaker will provide his and her expertise about a number of pain points that credit unions have been experiencing during the past few years, which will be most beneficial to credit union leaders to take home and share with their leadership teams.”

Josh Allison, Relationship Development Manager for Horizon Credit Union, will share his blueprint for creating relevant relationships with teenagers and young adults, and how credit unions can better leverage their unique voice in the financial services industry to resonate with today’s youth.  Mobile technology’s impact on the financial services industry will only continue to grow in the future, a topic to be addressed by Tim Lerew, a credit union industry expert who has served on the management team of West One FCU and as Marketing Director of CTEL Financial, a securities and investment CUSO.  Acclaimed author Mark Mayfield will also discuss the myths of customer service and how to move credit union members beyond satisfaction into being credit union advocates.  Known as the “Corporate Comedian,” Mayfield addresses serious member-service topics in a fun, entertaining manner.  Stacy Allison, the first American woman to summit Mount Everest, will share her insights on leadership and team building, and Dan Diamond, M.D., will also discuss his lessons learned in founding the first state-affiliated disaster relief team in the US.  His speech will address discovering significance in a challenging world.  For more information about the speakers, click here.
