On Thursday, October 14th, the Dakota Credit Union Foundation (Foundation), the charitable arm of the Dakota Credit Union Association, presented a donation in the amount of $6,000 to Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo, ND.
The donation was made possible by proceeds from the first “Play Yellow for Children’s Hospitals” golf event ever held in North Dakota, organized by the Foundation. Led by professional golfer Jack Nicklaus and his wife, Barbara, along with the PGA TOUR and Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals, “Play Yellow for Children’s Hospitals” strives to bring the entire golf world together to help the 10 million kids treated at CMN Hospitals each year.
“The Dakota Credit Union Foundation’s mission includes advancing the communities we serve through cooperative support and action for children’s charities and programs,” says Jeff Olson, president/CEO of Dakota Credit Union Association. “Dakotas’ credit unions have a long history of supporting our CMN Hospitals, and we are thrilled to be able to make this donation to help fund the ongoing care for the children who are being treated at Sanford Children’s Hospital,” he added. Since 1991, the association has donated more than $76,000 to Sanford Children’s Hospital.
On August 26th, credit union professionals, business partners, and credit union volunteers from across the Dakotas gathered at the Apple Creek Country Club in Bismarck. Money generated from mulligan sales, extend-a-putt sales, a 50/50 cash raffle, a putting contest, and a wine basket raffle were all earmarked for Sanford Children’s Hospital. In addition, a Miracle Match was pledged by CO-OP Financial Services, which brought the total donation to $6,000 for the day.
The Foundation’s Annual Golf Scramble is open to the public and takes place at rotating golf courses around the Dakotas each August. Visit dakcufoundation.org to learn more.
