Credit union holds drive for West Valley Child Crisis Center

GLENDALE, AZ (August 25, 2015) — Credit Union West is holding a collection drive during the month of September to benefit the West Valley Child Crisis Center (WVCCC). The drive is in addition to the credit union’s Jeans Day Fund program that gives their staff the opportunity to donate each pay period and in turn wear jeans on Fridays. “We believe every child deserves to have the things they need to feel safe and just be a kid,” said Bob MacGregor, the credit union’s president/CEO. “Most of them arrive to their foster families with very little or nothing at all; we want to help provide those items.”

The center’s mission is to end the cycle of family violence through education and prevention programs, and safe placement for foster children in Arizona. “We exist to serve Arizona’s children who’ve been abused, neglected or abandoned,” said the center’s CEO, Kary Goitia. “Credit Union West understands that the children are counting on all of us to step up and protect them with our hearts, hands and actions.” Goitia said the center relies on community supporters to provide the funding needed for safe-placement services such as foster care and adoption.

The credit union will be collecting items such as baby wipes and diapers, children’s clothing, gift cards and stocking stuffers for the holidays. Donations will be accepted at each of their Maricopa branch locations through the month of September. Credit Union West is encouraging their members and surrounding community to help in their efforts to provide the essentials for the foster families and children. If you would like to contribute to the collection drive, please visit www.cuwest.org to find a location near you.
