Credit union hosts groundbreaking ceremony for major expansion in Frederick County
Navy Federal brings economic boost to Winchester, Virginia
VIENNA, VA (January 25, 2017) — Navy Federal Credit Union hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its newest facility in Winchester today. Distinguished guests, including Governor Terry McAuliffe, praised the credit union’s commitment to bringing 1,400 jobs to the area with the three-level, 180,000-square-foot building.
Currently, the credit union employs roughly 1,400 across two facilities in Frederick County. The new building will nearly double Navy Federal’s workforce in the area. Scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2018, the expansion is a result of a $100 million investment by the credit union.
“Navy Federal has found a home in Winchester,” said Cutler Dawson, president and CEO of Navy Federal. “Our expansion helps us continue to provide career opportunities to the skilled talent pool in Frederick County and surrounding communities.”
“On average, Winchester Operations answers 27,500 calls a day, or 9.8 million calls a year,” said Susan Brooks, senior vice president of contact center operations in Winchester. “We’re happy to be supported by this wonderful community and in return are happy to be able to provide solid career paths.”
Navy Federal and its growing team of employees will continue to support events and organizations such as United Way, Relay for Life, Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Marine Corp Toys for Tots, American Red Cross, Millwood Volunteer Fire Department and Frederick County Public Schools.
