Credit Union Kids Golf Classic raises $300,000 for two Tampa nonprofits

The 19th annual Credit Union Kids Golf Classic raised $300,000 for two Tampa-based organizations. Tampa Bay Area Credit Unions for Kids donated $150,000 to both Think Big for Kids and Peace River Center, two non-profit organizations in the state of Florida.

The Credit Union Kids Golf Classic was founded in 2005 by Tampa Bay Area Credit Unions, a joint effort involving 16 local credit unions, to make a positive impact in the lives of children throughout Tampa Bay by funding vital initiatives of the area’s most respected healthcare institutions and nonprofits.

“This tournament is an incredible collaboration with our fellow credit union colleagues as a way to serve our communities,” said Kevin Johnson, President and CEO of Suncoast Credit Union. “It is always a great day when you can rally to do good for others, some of whom are in desperate need, and we look forward to the tournament every year, learning about the work so many are doing to improve the quality of life for children.”

Think Big for Kids and Peace River Center each received a $150,000 donation.

Think Big for Kids is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty, helping middle and high school students discover their potential through career exploration, mentorship, and job readiness and placement.

Peace River Center works to engage, restore, and empower individuals in our community to reach their fullest potential. The vision of Peace River Center is to be a center of excellence for behavioral health and emotional wellness.
