Credit Union Member, Ralph Lawrence is creator of the MoveAround IV Buggy supporting children receiving IV therapy

July 25, 2011 – Coventry Credit Union employees recently raised funds through Dress Casual Days to donate a MoveAround IV Buggy™. The MoveAround IV Buggy™ offers children receiving IV therapy with added mobility and independence—providing exercise, increased strength and stamina to help recovery.
The MoveAround IV Buggy™ was created by Coventry Credit Union Member, Ralph Lawrence of Coventry, RI. The Move Around IV Buggy™ was developed after “Grandpa Ralph” watched as his granddaughter, Autumn, struggled to pull her IV pole around after her bone marrow transplant in 2008. “I watched as my granddaughter was unable to move around the house without someone constantly helping her. I decided I would utilize my skills to build a miniature “shopping cart” that she would be able to push around,” notes Ralph Lawrence.
As professional caregivers visited Autumn and saw her IV Buggy, they encouraged “Grandpa Ralph” and the Lawrence family to take it a step further. The concept was presented to a group of doctors and nurses from Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI. Based on their input, a “real” prototype was manufactured.

Our staff hopes to raise additional funds through Dress Casual Days to donate another MoveAround IV Buggy™ to a child in need.” notes Shelly Peckham-Berardinelli, Vice President of Marketing for Coventry Credit Union.
