Credit Union Student Choice to host second annual “Empower U”

WASHINGTON, DC (August 22, 2016)Credit Union Student Choice, the foremost provider of higher education financing solutions to America’s credit unions, announced that it will host the second installment of its Empower U Partner Summit on September 28 and 29, 2016, in Washington, D.C.

The event will be held at the historic Mayflower Hotel and is open to representatives from all of Student Choice’s nearly 250 credit union partners, as well as credit unions who are seeking to learn more about the education finance marketplace. Last year more than 65 credit union professionals from across the nation descended on Boston for the first-ever learning event in the credit union space to focus solely on education finance. This year’s event will add interactive workshops led by Student Choice staff, as well as sessions from noted experts in higher education, consumer research, student lending, and more.

“We are thrilled to bring Empower U back to credit unions, and to the home of our nation’s decision makers,” said Scott Patterson, Student Choice’s President. “Credit unions are playing an increasingly important role in education finance, benefitting thousands of students and families. These credit unions are also looking to build strong, lifelong relationships with young adult members. This dynamic learning event will address those areas head on and provide attendees with tangible takeaways.”

“Just like we strive to educate members about wise financial decisions, we also want to educate credit unions about the latest trends and opportunities in the rapidly evolving education finance market,” added Patterson.

This year boasts another robust agenda and includes highly respected speakers, such as noted higher education experts Jeffrey Selingo, author of There is Life after College, and Jason Delisle, resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. The conference will also be capped off by an evening event with CNN’s Paul Begala and Fox News’ Tucker Carlson at the Knight Conference Center at the Newseum.
