Credit union-supported candidates see election wins in Wisconsin and Nebraska

WASHINGTON, DC (May 13, 2020) — Candidates backed by America’s credit unions saw election victories in competitive races across Wisconsin and Nebraska during Tuesday’s primaries.

State Sen. Tom Tiffany (R) won 58% of the vote in the state’s 7th Congressional District special election. Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), CUNA’s federal political action committee, and the Wisconsin Credit Union League (WCUL) supported Tiffany in his race.

CULAC and the Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) supported incumbents Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R), Rep. Don Bacon (R), Rep. Adrian Smith (D) and Senator Ben Sasse (R) who all saw easy primary wins.

Assemblywoman Christy Smith (D) was also supported by CULAC and the California Credit Union League (CCUL) in California’s 25th Congressional District special election. Results from that election have not yet been finalized.
