Credit Unions Donate Almost $10,000 For Area Hungry

Painesville, OH, March 1, 2012 – Nearly $10,000 was raised by 15 area credit unions for the hungry through the sale of candy bars over the last year.
The Northeast Chapter of the Ohio Credit Union League (serving Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula County) distributed funds to organizations including the Salvation Army in Painesville, St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Kirtland Hills and the Willoughby Food Pantry.
Miranda Puthoff CEO, Lake County Educational FCU and Treasurer, Northeast Chapter, said, “Unfortunately there is a great need for help in our communities. We combined our efforts to follow the credit union motto: people helping people.”

Parishone, Barb Sopko, CEO of Bailey Controls FCU said they service about 125 families per month.
Billie Willis office Administrator of the Salvation Army said that the soup kitchen feed about 80 to 100 people a day.
