Columbia, MD (May 22, 2025) |
Credit unions and industry partners once again demonstrated their commitment to community well-being, raising more than $36,000 at the 2025 Maryland and DC Play Yellow Charity Golf Classic, hosted by Credit Union Miracle Day, to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals).
Held at Hobbit's Glen Golf Club in Columbia, Maryland, the tournament brought together nearly 100 golfers who braved inclement weather for a spirited day of competition and giving. A check for $30,760 was presented to representatives from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at the start of the tournament, with the remaining donations from golfers being raised during the tournament.
“The generosity and dedication of our credit unions and business partners was really demonstrated by how many turned out to support this day even with less than perfect weather conditions!” said John Bratsakis, Board Chair of Credit Union Miracle Day and President/CEO of the MD|DC Credit Union Association. “Their support helps ensure that families have access to the critical care provided by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It’s a powerful reminder of how the credit union community comes together to make a real difference in the lives of children and families facing serious health challenges.”
Funds raised from the event will support two regional CMN Hospitals — Children’s National in Washington, DC, and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore — helping to provide life-saving treatments, pediatric medical equipment, and essential healthcare services.
Since adopting CMN Hospitals as its charity of choice in 1996, the credit union industry has raised over $200 million for the network nationwide.
“Local credit unions and industry partners play a vital role in supporting Children’s National Hospital,” said Meredith Demeria, Director of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Programs at Children’s National Hospital. “Events like the Play Yellow Charity Golf Classic, raise essential funds that support vital programs treating not just illnesses, but the whole child — physically, emotionally, and developmentally. This unrestricted support helps expand access to world-class care and promote health equity for families across our community. We’re incredibly grateful to Credit Union Miracle Day for their continued dedication to improving children’s health.”
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in the 2025 Credit Union Miracle Day Play Yellow Charity Golf Tournament, especially despite the weather conditions!” added Allison Epp, Assistant Director of Corporate Partners & Programs at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. “Your ongoing support through this meaningful event helps build healthier, brighter futures for patients and families at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and beyond!”
The 2025 charity golf classic was made possible by the support of more than 47 credit unions and business partners across the region. You can view the complete list of sponsors here.
