CU 4 A Cause Wraps Up 2011 And Announces Local Non-Profit Organization Partners For 2012

CU 4 A CAUSE wrapped up a very successful first year. CU 4 A CAUSE was established by St. Helens Community Federal Credit Union (SHCU) earlier in 2011 to benefit non-profit organizations in Columbia County, Oregon. The four non-profit organizations that benefit from funds raised are: Columbia County Women’s Resource Center; The Amani Center; Relay for Life of Columbia County Oregon; and Columbia Pacific Food Bank.

Through combined fundraising efforts held at all SHCU locations and a family event held in June 2011, CU 4 A CAUSE raised over $5600 for the four non-profit organizations. In addition to the fundraising campaigns, 364 pounds of food was collected for the Food Bank, and CU 4 A CAUSE teams held additional fundraising events to raise funds for their non-profit organization. “St. Helens Community Federal Credit Union is proud to employ such a generous and giving group of people” says Jeff Schwarz President / CEO of SHCU. In 2011 SHCU employees volunteered 824 hours for CU 4 A CAUSE fundraising events and in the communities they live and work in.

At the check presentation ceremony, Jeff Schwarz announced to the 2011 CU 4 A CAUSE non-profit organizations that they would be sponsored again for 2012. A selection process will be introduced in the third quarter of 2012 to select the four non-profit organizations sponsored by CU 4 A CAUSE in 2013. “A successful community outreach program such as CU 4 A CAUSE would not be possible without the support of community businesses and the generous people of Columbia County.
