CU24 awards five $1,000 grants to credit union members of the National Council of Postal Credit Unions

TALLAHASSEE, FL (April 16, 2014) —  CU24, a provider of services for credit unions nationwide, today announced the selection of five credit union members of the National Council of Postal Credit Unions (NCPCU) to receive $1,000 grants to attend the NCPCU’s Annual Conference in New Orleans, April 13-15th.

NCPCU is the only trade association dedicated to the education and sharing of ideas and information among postal credit unions throughout the United States.

Grant applications were submitted and considered this past winter.  NCPCU member credit unions with less than $60 million in assets were eligible to apply.  Of the applications submitted, the following credit union executives were selected based on their contributions to their credit unions, high regard within their organizations and among their board members, and contributions to their communities:

–  Katie Nelson, CEO, Mississippi Postal Employees Federal Credit Union, Jackson, Mississippi

–  Rose Gagnon, Manager, Virginia Beach Postal Federal Credit Union, Virginia Beach, Virginia

–   Marcia Marino, CEO, My Postal Credit Union, Pontiac, Michigan

–   Linda Childs, President and CEO, Tennessee Connect Credit Union, Knoxville, Tennessee

–   Karen Anderson, President and CEO, Postal Family Federal Credit Union, Fargo, North Dakota

“I want to thank CU24 for making it possible for me to be able to come together with my fellow managers at the annual conference  to see how they are dealing with the many compliance issues and effects of the downsizing of America’s Postal Service,” said Marcia Marino, CEO of My Postal Credit Union of Pontiac, Michigan.

NCPCU Executive Director Celeste Shelton adds, “The NCPCU is pleased that CU24 provided assistance for these five credit unions to attend our annual conference this year.  To have a partner in a cooperative that truly does have credit unions’ best interests in mind is crucial to our organization.”

“In today’s economic environment, it is often difficult for some credit unions to participate in important events due to budget constraints.  Providing credit unions with an opportunity to take part in the NCPCU’s annual conference is something that CU24 is proud to support,” said Mansel Guerry, President and CEO of CU24. “This is a service that helps smaller credit unions stay toe-to- toe with larger financial institutions that have deeper pockets and greater resources.”
