CUNA-backed candidates see primary wins in Oregon

WASHINGTON, DC (May 20, 2020) — Candidates backed by America’s credit unions saw primary election victories in competitive races in Oregon.

Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), CUNA’s federal political action committee, and the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) supported three winning candidates in their races.

Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D) saw an easy ballot win with 85% of the vote in the state’s 1st Congressional District.  In Oregon’s 3rd Congressional District, Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D) received over 100,000 votes, winning his election race with 82% of the vote. Rep. Kurt Schrader (D) won 71% of the vote in the 5th Congressional District.

According to recent data, 1 in 3 Americans are credit union members and 44% of registered voters belong to a credit union.
