CUNA Cannabis & Hemp Financial Services eSchool highlights key CU considerations

WASHINGTON, DC (September 30, 2021)CUNA Cannabis & Hemp Financial Services eSchool will provide a credit-union-specific look at regulations and provide insights into operating in a world where cannabis use is becoming more widely legalized.  The eSchool will be held in four, 90-minute Friday sessions in November and December.

“With more and more states legalizing a version of cannabis, credit unions need to know the risks, where the federal government stands, and how to manage any accounts associated with cannabis and hemp businesses,” said Jess MacLagan, instructional design manager – compliance for CUNA. “Plus, the increasingly common state-level legalization can create challenges for your HR department, even if your credit union isn’t interested in providing services to cannabis-related businesses.”

This eSchool will cover key terms, concepts and regulations, as well as help employers understand how best to handle drug testing and other HR challenges in the current regulatory environment.
