SEATAC, WA (October 12, 2016) — When the curtain goes up at the Northwest Credit Union Association’s 2016 MAXX Convention Tuesday, hundreds of credit union thought leaders will be challenged to think differently – in a convention keynote unlike any they’ve experienced before.
Northwest credit unions enjoy 50% market share, but connective storytelling will be key to engaging members in an evolving marketplace. Dear World Storyteller and Photographer Katie Greenman will demonstrate visual storytelling and the power of community, showing her team’s global work to tell stories of hope, struggle and a brighter future. It will be memorable—and interactive. Bonus: Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to participate in their own visual storytelling photoshoot.
Against a backdrop of lending, asset, share and deposit growth in the credit union movement, National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chair Rick Metsger will also address MAXX attendees Tuesday. The agency is standing strong to defend a bank-instigated lawsuit against its new Member Business Lending rule. Cyber risks, consumer protection and examination process improvements are also front and center on the NCUA’s radar screen. (Opening Session, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Northwest Ballroom)
See the credit union “people helping people” philosophy in action when Young Professions host an interactive “give back” event. They will assemble 180 care packages for the families of patients at the six Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the Northwest. A thoughtful note and a package of self-care items can go a long way helping families at a very difficult time. (6:30-8:00 p.m. Maxi’s Ballroom)
