CU*SWAG donated shirts on July 11, 2011 to the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas to aid in the flood relief efforts in Minot, North Dakota. The record breaking flood forced residents to evacuate and leave their homes behind. Eight credit unions reside in Minot, including GEM FCU, which was left completely under water following the disaster.

“More than 20,000 credit union members have been impacted by a combination of home loss, forced evacuation from their home, or job loss due to their employer’s business being destroyed,”  says Robbie Thompson, President/CEO of the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas. “The community’s water system was also compromised so the entire community (population of 41,000) has had to resort to boiling their water the last two weeks.  Some of the estimates have more than 4,100 residential homes lost or heavily damaged, including 3,000 homes under 10 feet of water.”

CU*SWAG is a viral graphic t-shirt line that provides credit unions with the opportunity to connect with their employees, members and the community. This gives them something fun to wear and turns them into advocates for credit unions. For more information about CU*SWAG, visit www.cuswag.com.
