Cybersecurity, innovation, affordable housing to highlight NWCUA’s 2017 MAXX Convention

More than 500 credit union professionals from three states will connect to influence CU Movement growth.

SEATAC, WA (October 20, 2017) — When the curtain goes up at the Northwest Credit Union Association’s (NWCUA) 2017 MAXX Convention Monday in Spokane, “Ted Talks,” cybersecurity briefings, affordable housing dialogue, and a trade show featuring 119 top industry business partners will take center stage.

More than 500 credit union professionals from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington are registered to attend.

While the region enjoys 50 percent market share, the NWCUA and its more than 180-member credit unions remain strategically focused on a goal of 75 percent market share by 2025.  The spotlight will shine on the future, particularly youth, throughout MAXX.  A 17-year old entrepreneur from Spokane will deliver one of three “Ted Talks” keynotes during the opening session. The NWCUA will also kick off the new Northwest Young Professionals Network, a program in which 18 “YP Leads” will play key roles at MAXX, and throughout the next year.

Other highlights of the conference include:

  • The Northwest Credit Union Foundation (NWCUF) breakfast which will include a “giveback” to a local Spokane teen housing nonprofit organization (Tuesday, 7:30 a.m.)
  • Northwest economic opportunities; particularly Washington’s potential to drive the “drone economy.” (Wednesday General Session 3:15 p.m.)
  • The Credit Unions for Kids Dinner and Auction benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, expected to raise over $300,000. (Tuesday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.)
