Daniel Ford named chief information officer at NEFCU

Credit Union fills CIO position with expert in IT And cybersecurity

WESTBURY, NY (June 21, 2019) — In its continuing drive to introduce technologically advanced and digitally driven solutions for members, while ensuring their banking privacy and security, NEFCU announced that it has named Daniel Ford, D.Sc., its chief information officer, responsible for all aspects of information technology, cybersecurity and digital banking.

Dr. Ford brings more than 20 years of information technology, cybersecurity and risk management experience, including an extensive history running technology and security programs, both within the public and private sectors.

As CIO, Dr. Ford will utilize his experience in building technology programs and cybersecurity to ensure that NEFCU and its members will be provided innovative technology products that have a core focus on security and privacy.

Dr. Ford joins the Westbury-based credit union from First Source Bank in South Bend (IN), where he was most recently the chief information officer, responsible for infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application development, among other core business areas.

Other notable roles include positions at Silent Circle, Fixmo, McAfee, BAE Systems, SRA, and Unisys. Dr. Ford graduated from Capitol Technology University with a doctor of science degree in information assurance (a/k/a cybersecurity), where his dissertation focused on the risks associated with smartphones in the enterprise. He also earned a master’s of science in information assurance from Capitol Technology University, and a bachelor’s of science in computer science. He is expected to graduate with a master’s in business administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in May 2020.
