Kettering, OH (May 16, 2025) |
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Day Air Credit Union partnered once again with Centerville High School to host Mad City Money Financial Reality Day, a hands-on, interactive simulation designed to equip students with real-world money management skills.
The event provided financial literacy and entrepreneurship students an engaging opportunity to learn how to budget and make informed financial decisions through practical application.
As part of the experience, students were assigned careers and family scenarios in advance. On the day of the event, they navigated various stations to allocate their “monthly incomes” across categories like housing, food, childcare, personal care, and entertainment, while also prioritizing saving.
More than 425 students participated across six class periods, making it one of the school’s most impactful financial education efforts to date. The program also aligns with Ohio’s financial literacy graduation requirement, which began with the Class of 2026.
The Day Air team worked closely with the Centerville Business Academy to tailor the simulation to fit the school’s 50-minute class schedule while preserving the depth and value of the experience.
Day Air Credit Union remains committed to empowering youth through financial education and looks forward to future opportunities to enhance and expand the program.
