Day Air Credit Union receives prestigious 2023 award for community service

KETTERING, OH (January 17, 2024)Day Air Credit Union is  honored to be the recipient of the 2023 Dora Maxwell Award,  presented by the Ohio Credit Union League. This accolade is in  recognition of Day Air’s significant contributions through the Bridges  Program of Choices, Inc., reflecting a deep commitment to social  responsibility and community development. The Dora Maxwell Award is named after a luminary in the credit union  movement, Dora Maxwell, who was renowned for her dedication to  credit union development, her community, and support for the  underserved. The award commemorates credit unions that  demonstrate excellence in community projects and the advancement of societal well-being.

In a collaboration with Choices, Inc., Day Air was instrumental in aiding homeless youth in emergency housing situations by providing them with essential home furnishings.  This initiative was rooted in the belief that a solid foundation in their living environment can significantly  enhance the prospects for these young individuals as they navigate the journey towards independent  adulthood.

Day Air’s involvement extended beyond material support, as they also engaged with every participant in the  Choices, Inc. Bridges Program, providing financial education and resources. These efforts aided in facilitating a  seamless transition into adult life, equipping the youth with the knowledge and tools for financial stability.

The passionate endeavors of Day Air were championed by the late Bettina Buscemi, whose enduring legacy is  honored through this award. Her dedication to community service continues to inspire and drive the credit  union’s mission to effectuate positive changes for the underserved.

Bill Burke, President and CEO of Day Air Credit Union, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Receiving the Dora  Maxwell Award is a testament to Day Air’s unwavering dedication to serving the underserved youth in the  Miami Valley. It’s a moment of pride and reflection as we continue to honor Bettina’s extraordinary spirit and her  commitment to uplifting our community.”

This first-place recognition has elevated Day Air Credit Union to the national spotlight, where its contributions  will be evaluated on a larger scale.
