DCECU employees help build home, clean up litter during volunteer projects

MIDLAND, MI (June 4, 2019) — More than 20 staff members at Midland-based Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union shared their time and talents during a pair of recent volunteer opportunities: Midland County Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Week and an Adopt-A-Street cleanup project.

Habitat for Humanity Women Build Week
On May 7 and 8, a total of 16 DCECU employees volunteered for Midland County Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Week, an annual event that empowers women to serve as housing construction volunteers – a Habitat for Humanity volunteer role in which women typically are significantly underrepresented, according to the organization.

Adopt-A-Street Boulevard Cleanup
On May 23, five DCECU employees cleaned litter from a stretch of the boulevard area near the credit union – between East Lyon and East Patrick roads, from Lincoln Street to Washington Street, including around the bicycle and pedestrian path that runs through the boulevard – through the Adopt-A-Street program.

“As a credit union that strives to make an impact on the area in meaningful ways, it is our privilege to offer our employees opportunities to get out into the community and give back through service,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. “Habitat for Humanity Women Build Week and our semi-annual Adopt-A- Street cleanup are two volunteer projects that our employees always particularly look forward to.”
