Democracy Federal Credit Union motivates members and employees to help Louisiana flood victims
ALEXANDRIA, VA (October 13, 2016) — Washington, DC (October, 2016) – Democracy FCU embraced the credit union principle of “People Helping People” and aided Louisiana flood victims by collecting donations and funds. During the August floods in Louisiana, 13 people lost their lives, more than 100,000 houses were flooded, and over 300 credit union employees were affected.
Democracy FCU stationed a large box at each Branch with lists of items that Louisiana needed for the clean-up and everyday life. Staff and members donated non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, toiletries and school supplies that were shipped to the Louisiana Credit Union League for distribution.
In addition, Democracy FCU collected cash donations totaling $1,150 that was sent to the National Credit Union Foundation’s disaster relief system. Staff and members were extremely excited they could help Louisiana in their time of need.
