Denali Credit Union to resume operations after Alaska earthquake

The call center and most offices are open and ready to assist members

Denali Federal Credit Union, a division of Nuvision Credit Union, has resumed full operations in all but one location today after closing offices and ATMs because of Friday’s earthquake near Anchorage. In Alaska, Denali operates 14 offices and 20 ATMs in Anchorage, Eagle River, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai and Wasilla.

The Eagle River Carrs Branch at 11409 Business Blvd. in Eagle River will not reopen today. The branch and the store in which it is located suffered enough damage in the earthquake to remain closed. Denali will provide an update on its website (www.denalifcu.org), Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Denalifcu) and on Twitter (@DenaliFCU) after it determines a timeframe to reopen. Those in Eagle River who need to visit a Denali branch or ATM can go to the nearest locations in Anchorage, about 10 miles away:

  • Tikahtnu Branch, 1118 N. Muldoon Road; or
  • East Anchorage Walmart Branch, 7405 DeBarr Road.

There has been no disruption to online or mobile banking operations, so members can access their accounts if they have internet or mobile data availability. The Denali call center also reopened after closing over the weekend. Members can contact Denali at 907-257-7200 (option 3) or 800-764-1123 (option 3). Denali can also be reached at info@denalifcu.org, although email is not a secure form of communication, so members should not include sensitive personal or financial information.

“The Denali team has done a remarkable job to assess the damages, determine that structures are sound and assure that team members can physically get to their locations,” said Nuvision CEO Roger Ballard, who traveled to Anchorage over the weekend to provide support. “This was a significant team effort and we appreciate all that has been done to ensure that the credit union will be open to assist our members.”
