Denali Federal Credit Union’s 19th annual charitable golf tournament, the Denali Rally, raised $18,000 for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) this July. This year the Denali Rally received a $10,000 matching grant from one of the Credit Union’s strategic partners, CO-OP Financial Services, bringing the total donation to $28,000. All funds will remain in Alaska and be directed to the Alaska Children’s Hospital.
“Denali invests in the communities we serve to help build a better future for all,” said President & CEO Bob Teachworth. “We are proud that our employees, participants and corporate partners have been able to do the same via the Denali Rally, especially CO-OP Financial Services.”
“Local fundraising is a great way to express community spirit, and build stronger ties with credit union members, by staging events that involve them to raise more funds for CMN Hospitals,” said Bill Prichard, Senior Manager, P.R. & Corp. Communications for CO-OP Financial Services. “Denali Federal Credit Union has done a commendable job with their Denali Rally, we are happy to provide the matching donation.”
Alaska’s CMN Champion, Marc, and his family spoke at the tournament’s banquet. His mom spoke about the six surgeries (4 planned, 2 due to complications) Marc had which ultimately lead to the removal of his large intestine. She shared that there were days that the only reason they could get Marc out of bed was the playroom that was built and stocked using CMN donations. She also said the counselors whose salaries were funded by CMN donations helped Marc prepare for and during the painful surgeries. When Marc took the microphone to thank the sponsors and players for donating to CMN he received a standing ovation.
Denali has raised almost $140,000 in funds for CMN. The Credit Union also raises funds via member donations throughout the year.
