(Greenville, S.C.)
– Several credit unions from around the Upstate are joining together to offer discounted gas fill-ups on Friday morning. Beginning at Noon at the Hickory Point store at 2617 Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville, drivers will receive gas at a $.50 per gallon discount, courtesy of the Credit Unions of South Carolina. The offer of discounted gas will kick off an ongoing campaign, referred to as MADTAG, by the Credit Unions of South Carolina to highlight the good deeds being done in our local community, and those who are making a difference.

“MADTAG is all about finding ways to Make A Difference in the lives of others and our community” said Melody Aleman, Marketing Coordinator at SC Telco Federal Credit Union. “But we don’t want it to stop there, just like a game of tag, we want people to pass on the good deed to someone else” said Aleman. “Instead of just asking people what good deeds have been done for them, we wanted to lead by example by surprising drivers with a deal on gas” said Scott Weaver, CEO of Carolina Foothills Federal Credit Union with branches in Spartanburg, Gaffney, Greenville and Simpsonville. “Hopefully the drivers who are the recipients of our good deed this morning will be energized to find a way to pass it on” said Weaver.

The Credit Unions of South Carolina have launched a Facebook page, encouraging people to submit examples of good deeds that have been done for them, and who is responsible for them, which could lead to being chosen for a reward that will be given out monthly by the Credit Unions of South Carolina.
