Driskell, Peacock, & Williamson receive Credit Union Financial Counseling Certification

NEWBURGH, IN (January 27, 2014) -- Heritage Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Lending Resolutions Consultants Barbara Driskell, Marcia Peacock, and Julie Williamson received Credit Union Financial Counseling Certification after successful completion of regulatory training presented by the Credit Union National Association.

The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) is the premier national trade association serving credit unions. Ninety percent of America’s credit unions are affiliated with CUNA, which supports the credit union movement by providing a number of services including financial counseling certification.  The CUNA Financial Counseling Certification Program develops credit union counseling professionals to guide members through future financial situations and enables all credit union staff to become more confident in helping members.

Driskell, Peacock, and Williamson were recently designated Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors after they completed training that consisted of eight modules, each with a proctored final exam.  These modules covered a comprehensive understanding of financial counseling knowledge in the following areas: Introduction to Financial Counseling, Financial Counseling Essentials, Special Issues in Financial Counseling, Using Communication Skills During Financial Counseling, Taxes, Insurance, and Investments, Controlling Living Expenses and Understanding Consumer Credit, Matching Values to Money, and Retirement and Special Issues.

Heritage Federal Credit Union’s Ruth Jenkins, President and CEO states, “The CUNA Financial Counselor Certification is a wonderful personal accomplishment as well as an asset for Heritage Federal Credit Union and our 44,979 members.  The Credit Union is very fortunate to have a strong Financial Counseling Team.  I appreciate their commitment to furthering their skills for the benefit of the Credit Union and our member-owners.  The knowledge they have acquired and refined through CUNA will be very valuable to the overall organization of Heritage Federal Credit Union.”
