DuGood FCU establishes a CUSO to serve other local credit unions
BEAUMONT, TX (April 11, 2017) — Local credit unions are receiving new growth opportunities thanks to a service organization formed and led by DuGood Credit Union.
On April 3, DuGood officially opened Texas CU Services, LLC, a Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO).
The CUSO will allow DuGood to share resources like mortgage, lending and IT services with other credit unions.
DuGood CEO Jada Kelley says “the cooperative spirit” was her motivation. The mission of the CUSO is to offer affordable services to credit unions that will result in shared efficiencies and growth.
“Most people probably don’t realize that there are over 60 credit union locations in Southeast Texas, and we all have the same desire to serve our members well,” Kelley said.
“Credit unions aren’t like any other type of financial institution. Even though we serve the same area, we work together. We’re cooperatives, and we want everyone to be successful.”
In its first weeks of operations, the CUSO is already assisting three local credit unions. Kelley added that she hopes it will continue to grow and would like to offer even more services, such as consulting and core computer system hosting, in the future.
