DuGood Federal Credit Union shuts down to serve military on Veterans Day
BEAUMONT, TX (November 12, 2015) — Although DuGood FCU’s branches were closed on Veterans Day, the credit union’s employees were hard at work serving military throughout Southeast Texas.
On Wednesday, groups of DuGood employees headed to locations like Magnolia Cemetery, Henry’s Place, Veterans Memorial Park and Bridge, Applebee’s and several area nursing homes with one mission in mind – honoring past and present veterans for their service.
“It really is an honor to be able to give back to our local veterans.” DuGood President and CEO Jada Kelley said.
“These men and women fought so bravely for our freedom and protection. I can’t imagine what our country would be like without their sacrifice. We hope these small acts of kindness brightened their day and let them know how much we truly appreciate them.”
On Veteran’s Day, roughly 120 DuGood employees dispersed throughout Southeast Texas to greet veterans and their families, hand out flags, and spend time celebrating with elderly and homeless vets.
DuGood’s staff and members also assembled over 700 “blessing bags” with toiletries, Kleenex, socks and hand-written letters to encourage veterans in need.
Throughout the day, the credit union rallied around the hashtag #DuGoodForVeterans on social media. To see their employees in action, visit their Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages.
