DuPage Credit Union’s 2020 We’ve Got Your Back® backpack fundraiser is off to a hot start
NAPERVILLE, IL (February 4, 2020) — DuPage Credit Union launched its 2020 We’ve Got Your Back backpack fundraiser to benefit local students by kicking it up a notch with a team chili cook-off on January 29th at its Operations Center in Naperville.
Nearly a dozen team members competed with delicious concoctions ranging from chili con carne to vegetarian to a tasty turkey and sweet potato chili medley. Along with the spicy samples, team members enjoyed freshly baked cornbread, blueberry pie and other homemade treats.
During the event, the credit union raised $235 to put towards its goal of $10,000 to help purchase backpacks and school supplies for local students in need. Since its inception, We’ve Got Your Back has raised over $75,000 and given out over 5,300 backpacks filled with essential school supplies during the Catholic Charities of Joliet’s annual back to school fair that benefits families served by the DuPage Regional Office of Education.
“Our team is amazing,” said Vice President of Business Solutions Amy Brandt, who oversees the credit union’s charitable giving DuPage CUgives® program. “Whether they are collecting items at our shred event in the rain, whipping up dishes for bake sales or donating their hard-earned dollars to help those less fortunate, our team is committed to giving back to the community.”
Executive Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer Roberta Kozlowicz took home top honors for her turkey and sweet potato chili. Placing second was Senior Fraud & Compliance Specialist Sara Meeks.
