ēCO Credit Union and the ēCO Credit Union Foundation award scholarships

ēCO and the ēCO Credit Union Foundation presented college scholarships totaling $7,500.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (April 24, 2017) — ēCO Credit Union is excited to announce the recipients of its A.L. Bratcher college scholarships, as well as of the inaugural ēCO Credit Union Foundation Scholarship. The $2,500 scholarships were presented at ēCO’s Scholarship Awards Luncheon on April 21, 2017 at The Club.

The A.L. Bratcher Scholarship was created in 2011 to honor the late Reverend A.L. Bratcher and his work and dedication to safe, sound, member-first financial institutions.

The recipients of the 2017-2018 A.L. Bratcher Scholarships are Madalyn Carden and Parker Wilson. Madalyn is a senior at Shelby County High School and plans to attend Troy University in the Fall. Parker, a senior at Spain Park High School, will be studying Environmental Science at Auburn University.

“eCO Credit Union is proud to champion education and the community,” said Joey Hand, ēCO CEO. “We are excited to be able to support these deserving seniors as they pursue their dreams.”

At the luncheon, the first-ever ēCO Credit Union Foundation Scholarship was also presented. The ēCO Credit Union Foundation is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to financial education. According to Foundation President, Kenny Minton, “as we seek to make our community even better, we feel it is very important to support those who have chosen to return to school to change career directions or better themselves in their current career.”

The ēCO Credit Union Foundation awarded Jordan Rose with the ēCO Credit Union Foundation Scholarship to aide in his studies at Faulkner University.

Applications for the 2018-2019 scholarship cycle will be available in December.

ēCO CEO, Joey Hand, and Canaan Baptist Church Pastor, Douglas Caddell, present scholarship certificates to the 2017-2018 recipients.
