EdFed to award 15 college scholarships in May

MIAMI, FL (February 21, 2024)The Educational Federal Credit (EdFed) has announced the start of their annual Hubert O. Sibley 2 + 2 Florida Prepaid Tuition Scholarship program, which begins on Friday, February 2, 2024. Named in honor of a former President & CEO of the credit union, Hubert O. Sibley, the scholarship program awards 15 graduating high school students with a 2 + 2 Florida Plan from the Florida Prepaid College Board.  

“As the credit union for the educational community, EdFed takes a leading role in helping students to achieve their educational and professional dreams.” said Michael DiBenedetto, EdFed’s President & CEO. “The Hubert O. Sibley Scholarship helps to remove the financial obstacles many students face in planning for college, while providing our credit union with the opportunity to give back to our community in such a meaningful way.” 

Exclusively awarded to EdFed members, the Hubert O. Sibley Scholarship does not have any qualifying criteria related to grade point average or require an essay submission. Recipients will be selected in a random drawing and will be notified in May. To qualify, a student must be a graduating high school senior in 2024, a resident of Florida, and plan to attend an accredited college, university, or post-secondary institution in the coming school year. 

“Since the inception of this program in 1995, the credit union has awarded $3.9 million in scholarships to high school seniors.” said Debbie Jusino, an EdFed Board Director and Co-Chair of the credit union’s Scholarship Committee. “Our Board of Directors is extremely proud of the Hubert O. Sibley Scholarship and the positive impact it has made in the lives of countless recipients over the years.”
