GREENBELT, MD (May 12, 2015) -- Educational Systems Federal Credit Union was proud to support the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run held on April 12, which benefits the Children's Miracle Network. The Credit Union sponsored 70 runners all of whom wore bright yellow shirts with the Credit Union's mantra of "Support Education" emblazoned on the back.
Educational Systems FCU sponsored 16 athletes in the 10-mile run and 54 individuals in the 5k race with over half of those runners coming from the education community. One of the four "Support Education" teams entered in the 10-mile run by Educational Systems FCU, was comprised entirely of students from Calvert County's Patuxent High School. Educational Systems FCU sponsored mile markers 1 and 9 and volunteers wearing the Credit Union's "Support Education" shirts helped runners by working the water stop at mile 8.75. The Credit Union also raised over $5,500 for the Children's Miracle Network. This year's effort marked the highest number of runners and the largest donation the Credit Union has ever made to the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run.
"Sponsoring student runners and other members of the education community is a great opportunity for us to celebrate those who make a difference every day," remarked Chris Conway, President/CEO of Educational Systems FCU.
Educational Systems FCU (esfcu.org) has proudly served the education community for nearly 60 years. With $787 million in assets and 12 branches, the Credit Union serves nearly 90,000 members in seven school systems and three community colleges throughout Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George's, St. Mary's and Talbot counties.
